BCDU NATIONAL PRESIDENT PREACHES PEACE, UNITY AND COOPERATION AT THE BCDU KUJE AREA COUNCIL INAUGURATION

The National President of the Bassa Cultural and Development Union (BCDU), Dr. Peter Tukura, has called for peace, unity, mutual understanding and cooperation among the people of Kuje Area Council and other neighbouring ethnic nationalities.

Dr. Peter Tukura made the call during the inauguration ceremony of the BCDU Kuje Area Council, where he was ably represented by the National Secretary-General of BCDU, Comrade Haruna Abdullahi Kure.

Representing the National President, Comrade Kure emphasized the importance of peaceful coexistence and urged the people of Kuje and neighbouring communities to work together, respect one another and strengthen the bonds that unite them, regardless of ethnic or cultural differences.

He stressed that sustainable development and peaceful communities can only be achieved when people cooperate, support one another and resolve differences through dialogue and mutual respect.

In his royal blessing, the Aguma of Rubochi, speaking on behalf of the Agumas and the entire Bassa people of Kuje Area Councilthe pealed to the national body of BCDU to come to the aid of the Bassa in Kuje by strengthening their leadership and representation at the Area Council level. He noted that the community currently lacks adequate representation—traditionally, politically and otherwise—and therefore has no strong voice to speak up on issues affecting the welfare and development of the Bassa people in the area.

The colourful inauguration ceremony was attended by several traditional rulers, community leaders and dignitaries, including the Aguma of Rubochi, Aguma Adegba, the Madaki of Kurwo and Ore, among others.

Also present were members of the BCDU FCT State leadership, including the State Chairman, Secretary and Auditor, who is the immediate past Chairman of BCDU Kuje.

The event further witnessed the presence of prominent BCDU leaders and elders, including Elder Umar Gaiwa and Elder Musa Zhiya Kaura Ubo, alongside other distinguished members and stakeholders of the union.

The newly constituted Kuje BCDU Executive, led by Comrade Sule Adamu Sheneni Degbe, was also in attendance and reaffirmed its commitment to promoting unity, peace, cultural identity and the collective interests of the Bassa people within Kuje and beyond.

The Bassa Cultural and Development Union remains committed to fostering peaceful coexistence, strengthening community relations and promoting cooperation between the Bassa people and other ethnic nationalities across the Federal Capital Territory and Nigeria at large.
