PRESIDENT TINUBU APPROVES ESTABLISHMENT OF ARMY BARRACKS IN TOTO LGA

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, has approved the immediate establishment of a Nigerian Army Barracks in Toto Local Government Area of Nasarawa State; As Army Headquarters Delegation Inspects Kanyehu Site In Preparation For Take off

The approval is in response to a request by the Executive Chairman of Toto Local Government Council, Hon. Pharm. Ahmed Baba Yahaya, and follows the recommendation of the Executive Governor of Nasarawa State, His Excellency Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule. The barracks is aimed at consolidating the peace building processes initiated by the Local Government Council for stability in Toto LGA and its environs to foster development.

In line with the approval, a delegation from the Nigerian Army Headquarters, led by Maj. Gen. R.T. Utsaha, on Friday, 14 August 2026 visited Toto LGA to inspect the site at Kanyehu provided by the Council Chairman.

During the inspection, Maj. Gen. Utsaha commended Hon. Pharm Ahmed Baba Yahaya for his commitment to peace and security, and expressed appreciation for the warm reception accorded to the delegation. He disclosed that construction works on the barracks are scheduled to commence soon.

In his response, Hon. (Pharm.) Ahmed Baba Yahaya thanked the delegation for the visit and assured them of the Council’s maximum cooperation to ensure the timely realization of the project.

The Chairman also expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for granting the request, and to Governor Abdullahi A. Sule for his support and for championing the cause of lasting peace in Toto.

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to sustaining peace, security, and sustainable development in the area.

Members of the Nigerian Army delegation who visited the site were Maj. Gen. R.T. Utsaha, Brig. Gen. D.C. Nwakonobi, Brig. Gen. W.A. Bakari, Lt. Col. A. Enias, Lt. Col. J.S. Ismaila, Maj. M. Gambo, and Capt. I. Umar.

Pharm Ahmed Baba Yahaya was accompanied to the site by members of his Executive Cabinet and Management Staff of the Local Government Council.
