URGENT CALL FOR THE EXPEDITION OF THE CONSTRUCTION OF OGUMA TOWNSHIP ROADS AND ODENYI–OGUMA ROAD

Over a year ago, the Kogi State Government announced the award of contracts for the construction of major township roads across the state, with Oguma township roads included. However, it is worrisome that up till this moment, Oguma township roads remain in a deplorable state.

First of all, I must commend His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, for his people-oriented policies in critical areas such as agriculture, health, civil service reforms, and education. Indeed, these efforts have brought a breath of fresh air to governance in our dear state.

It is important to note that Bassa Local Government was the only local government in Kogi East where Governor Ododo secured victory at the polls. This is a clear reflection of the love, trust, and confidence the people of Bassa have in his leadership. In return, the people also deserve to feel more of the dividends of democracy, especially in the area of road infrastructure.

We therefore call on the Governor and the relevant authorities to, as a matter of urgency, ensure the commencement and speedy completion of the Oguma township roads.

Similarly, we appeal for the immediate rehabilitation of the Odenyi–Oguma road, which has also become a nightmare for commuters.

Considering that Bassa Local Government is widely regarded as the agricultural headquarters of Kogi State, fixing these roads will not only ease the daily sufferings of the people but also boost economic activities, enhance food transportation, and improve the overall wellbeing of citizens.

The people of Bassa have kept faith with this government, it is only fair that their faith is rewarded with meaningful development.

Gbogolo Abel Dangara
Writes from Oguma, the headquarters of Bassa local Government.
